For this graphic created for University Girl’s article “From Page to Pain: Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You Hits the Big Screen,” I designed a visual that reflects the emotional intensity and romantic themes of the story. The goal was to capture both the softness of the relationship and the underlying tension within the narrative.
I used soft gradients and heart motifs to suggest love and vulnerability, while incorporating a halftone treatment to introduce a more layered and slightly uneasy tone. The overlapping faces reference the complexity of the relationships in the story, adding depth to the composition. I chose a handwritten-style typeface to create a more personal and intimate feel that aligns with the tone of the novel.
I focused on balancing sweetness with emotional weight through color, texture, and composition, ensuring the design remained visually engaging while still supporting the article’s themes.
This project reflects my approach to editorial design, using visual elements to enhance storytelling and create a strong connection between the content and the viewer.
