For this project, I designed a 24-page type specimen for the typeface Playfair Display, exploring both its visual personality and practical applications. The specimen presents the typeface in a more expressive, editorial way while also highlighting its key details, including its history, designer, full character set, weights, and typographic anatomy.
I focused on creating a layout that felt engaging and visually dynamic while still clearly communicating information. Throughout the book, I used hierarchy, scale, and contrast to showcase the unique qualities of Playfair Display, especially its high contrast strokes and elegant curves. I also included real-world applications to demonstrate how the typeface functions in editorial and branding contexts.
This project pushed me to balance creativity with structure across a longer format, and helped me strengthen my attention to detail and consistency across multiple pages. It was a time-intensive process, but one I really enjoyed, especially in developing a cohesive visual system from start to finish.
