For this project, I designed a series of seven book covers for a memoir concept titled Out of the Lines. The title reflects both personal growth and creativity, inspired by my experience of becoming more comfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone over time.
Each cover uses the same text and typeface while exploring specific typographic variables, including size, line spacing, font weight, and color. As the series progresses, the designs move from simple to more experimental, pushing the limits of these constraints while still maintaining a cohesive visual system. This challenged me to think more intentionally about hierarchy, composition, and how small changes can shift the overall tone of a design.
The final cover introduces a more expressive, hand-drawn approach. This version draws on a sense of nostalgia and visually reinforces the idea of creativity and going “out of the lines.”
This project strengthened my ability to work within strict guidelines while still creating variation and a strong overall concept.
